Beat the Heat: God Makes All Types!

How are you handling the heat—not the weather, but the tension our differing opinions create? God delights in diversity and gives each of us a unique personality. This coming Sunday we turn to Scripture to notice a reformer, or crusader type. Perhaps you know one.

This personality prefers control and insists on doing things “my” way. When others fall short of their standards, anger or resentment may follow.

Several biblical figures fit this pattern, including the Apostle Paul. Before Damascus, this devoted Pharisee defended the Law and enforced his way even through murder. After encountering Christ, meekness—the fruit of the Spirit—guided his crusading nature.

So following Jesus, Paul abandoned violence but kept his passion for justice. Today’s crusaders can do the same. Are you one?

Maybe God is calling you to reclaim your passion—

Or is the call to respond meekly to a crusader you know, one you may influence for Christ?
